Hot desking means you use a workspace without having a permanently assigned desk. You arrive, pick any available seat in the shared area, set up, and get to work. When you’re done, you pack up and leave. The next day, you can sit somewhere different — or the same spot if it’s free.

It sounds straightforward because it is. Hot desking, also called a flexi desk arrangement, is the most flexible way to use a professional workspace. You’re paying for access to the environment, not ownership of a specific seat.

Hot desking works well for people whose work patterns don’t require them to be at the same desk every day at the same time:

Freelancers who work some days from a coworking space and some days elsewhere.Remote workers who prefer to mix home and office days throughout the week.Consultants who need professional space for certain client-facing days.Part-time or flexible workers who don’t need a full-time desk.People who travel frequently and want a reliable workspace when they’re in Kochi. It’s not ideal if you need to leave equipment set up permanently, have extensive paper files to manage, or need a consistent private space for frequent confidential calls. For those situations, a dedicated desk or private office is a better fit.

At Centre A, the flexi desk option gives you access to our shared workspace at MG Road or Tripunithura. You arrive during operating hours, find an available seat in the open workspace, connect to our high-speed internet, and work. Meeting rooms are available to book when you need a private space for calls or client meetings.

You don’t carry a key. You don’t have a nameplate. You don’t own a drawer. What you have is a professional, quiet environment with everything you need to be productive — without the cost or commitment of a dedicated desk.

Hot desk vs dedicated desk — the real difference

The main trade-off is between flexibility and permanence. A hot desk (flexi desk) is cheaper and requires no long-term commitment — ideal if your schedule varies. A dedicated desk means the same seat is yours every day, you can leave your monitor or keyboard set up, and you have a fixed, consistent spot. The dedicated desk option costs more but gives you the feel of your own workstation within a shared environment.

If you’re unsure which suits you, starting with a flexi desk or a day pass is the right move. Most people know within a week or two which arrangement works better for how they actually work.

Can I leave my things at the desk overnight?

With a flexi desk, no — you take your belongings when you leave each day. If you need to leave equipment set up, a dedicated desk is the right option.

Do I need to book in advance?

At Centre A, flexi desk access is available to members during operating hours without advance reservation for a seat. Meeting rooms do require a booking.

What’s included with a hot desk membership?

High-speed Wi-Fi, access to common areas, use of the workspace during operating hours, and the ability to book meeting rooms. Check with us on current membership inclusions at each location.

Is there a difference between the MG Road and Tripunithura locations?

Both locations offer professional coworking environments. MG Road is in the heart of Ernakulam’s commercial district. Tripunithura suits those based in the eastern parts of the city. We recommend visiting both if you’re deciding.

Hot desking means you use a workspace without having a permanently assigned desk.
